Frequently Asked Questions

Abstract Submission

Who will review my abstract?

The ICSC Steering Committee.

When will I receive notification whether my abstract been accepted for an oral or poster presentation?

Notification will be provided by 2 April 2019.

My abstract has been accepted what is the next step?

You will be required to register by the presenter registration deadline of 31 May 2019.

A full paper is required if you wish to be considered for publication in the special issue of Accident Analysis and Prevention. Please prepare your full paper according to the ICSC2019 paper template and submit via the online submission portal, which will be open shortly. Full papers must be submitted by 15 May 2019.

What will a poster presentation entail?

Dedicated poster presentation sessions are included within the ICSC2019 program. Authors will deliver short presentations to conference delegates during the Poster Sessions on Tuesday 19 November 2019.

In addition, all posters (together with associated graphs and images) will be displayed electronically to all conference delegates at the Meet the Authors social event on Tuesday 19 November 2019. This will enable authors to meet delegates face-to-face to discuss their research. View the draft program for more information.

Journal Issue

I see that selected full papers will be published in a special issue of Accident Analysis & Prevention. How will that work?

Submission to AAP is only possible through an invitation received from the ICSC2019 Reviewing Committee. Notifications and feedback on all full papers will be provided by 5 July 2019.

Should you be invited to submit to AAP, a revised version and rebuttal must be submitted to the AAP guest editors, Narelle Haworth and Divera Twisk, by 15 October 2019.

Following a review of the revised version, the guest editors will invite the author to submit their full paper direct to AAP via its online portal, which opens on 21 November 2019, and closes on 15 December 2019.

Following submission to AAP, the paper will then be subject to the AAP’s regular peer-review procedure, and rejection could still be possible.

When are the full papers due?

22 May 2019.

Who will review my full paper?

The ICSC2019 Reviewing Committee. Each paper will be assigned to two reviewers who have expertise in that research area.

Will full papers be made available to conference delegates?

NO, only abstracts will be made available to delegates via the conference USB. Full papers will NOT be published in any form as this could impede publication either in the special issue of AAP or another scientific journal. The full papers will only be seen by the selected reviewers of the Reviewing Committee, who will adhere to general review guidelines.

Can I submit a full paper if I have a poster presentation?

YES, if you wish your work to be considered for publication in the special issue of Accident Analysis and Prevention. Please prepare your full paper according to the ICSC2019 paper template and submit via the online submission portal, which will be open shortly. Full papers must be submitted by 15 May 2019.

What criteria will be used to review the full papers
  • Paper structure
  • Research methodology
  • Originality
  • Validity of results
  • Scientific and practical contribution
If I do not submit a revised paper, based on the ICSC Reviewing Committee review, would it still be possible to be invited to submit for the Special Issue of AAP?

NO. Only papers approved by the ICSC Reviewing Committee will progress to review by AAP editors. Revisions must be submitted to the AAP guest editors, Narelle Haworth and Divera Twisk by 15 October 2019.
